The tenacious midfielder is preparing to face Latvian side Daugava Riga tonight in the first leg of the Fairs Cup Intertoto Round, with Dutch side Groningen awaiting the winners.

And Flood feels that the speed of the team along with a favourable draw could mean the Dons make an impression on the tournament.

Flood said: "I believe we can go far if we get a good draw. Teams won’t like playing against us as we have a lot of pace in the team.

"Look at the World Cup and you can see that pace is just killing the opposition.

"We have a good squad of players and if we get the luck of the draw we have a chance."
