Hartley Joins Interim Team

ABERDEEN skipper Paul Hartley will join coaches Neil Cooper and Neil Simpson in caretaker charge of Aberdeen.

Youth coach Cooper took charge of training today, assisted by Simmie and Hartley, and these three will remain in interim charge of the first-team until a new boss has been found and put in place.

Club legend and former gaffer, Willie Miller will also take a more hands-on role as part of the interim team, but will remain in his current position as Director of Football.

The club has had to move quickly following the sacking of the previous management team headed up by Mark McGhee, despite this weekend's SPL card being postponed.

The club will surely be desperate to have a new permanent manager bedded in well before the Dons' trip to Hampden for the Co-Operative Insurance Cup semi-final in January.

Many news reports are making Scotland Under-21 manager Billy Stark the early frontrunner in the race for the Dons job, along with the currently out-of-work Gordon Strachan.
