Jimmy Scoops April BoS Gong

The disappointment of Aberdeen's season ending a game early will not be lost on Jimmy Calderwood, but the gaffer has been given a boost in the build-up to today's game with Celtic.

Calderwood has been named as Bank of Scotland Premierleague Manager of the Month for April, an award richly deserved as the Dons came through the month unbeaten, securing their Top 6 place and putting in a late challenge for a fourth place that could have offered a place in Europe.

The award will join February's Manager of the Month gong in Jimmy's lavvy, which demonstrates the form shown by his charges since the turn of the year.

The month kicked off with a successful April Fools' Day trip to Inverness to face an in-form Caley Thistle. The gritty 1-0 win was followed by another tough game at home to Hibs that saw the Dons secure another 1-0 victory.

A draw in the away match against Rangers meant that Aberdeen finished the season undefeated against the Ibrox side with two wins & two draws - the first time that had happened since 1986.

A toothless 0-0 draw at home against Kilmarnock followed, but that was forgotten when Hibernian visited Pittodrie for the second time in April. Steve Lovell scored a classy double in an emphatic four goal victory over the Easter Road club, and Lovell will be disappointed that he didn't pick up the Player of the Month prize for the month.

However, his goals helped the Dons finished with a creditable 11 points out of a possible 15 in April; a run that saw Jimmy scoop the BoS award.
