Collins, a nephew of Scotland international John Collins, had been playing for Borders club Gala Rovers when the Dons swooped to capture him.

The teenager was top scorer for Rovers last season, hopes to follow in the footsteps of his uncle John and become an SPL success - and perhaps play for Scotland too.

Collins caught the eye of Dons legend and Director of Football Willie Miller during trials and a contract offer quickly followed.

Jamie's dad Norrie told the Border Telegraph: "Jamie had offers from a couple of clubs but we went up to Aberdeen a few months ago and really liked what we saw.

"It is a really friendly club and they were extremely welcoming. It's a big step for Jamie but he is looking forward to it."
