Keeper Hoogendoorn Flies In

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood has made moves to sort out the Pittodrie keeper crisis by bringing in Dutchman Jesper Hoogendoorn.

The 20-year-old Feyenoord keeper trained with the first team this morning and the Dons are hopeful he will be available for Charlie Brown's testimonial against Forres Mechanics tomorrow night.

However he can only play once Aberdeen have received the green light from the relevant authorities.

The move will bring back memories of Dons' Dutch keeper Theo Snelders, who joined the club in 1988 before embarking on an eight year career with the Dons that established him as a cult hero at the club.

Meanwhile, Hoogedoom's Feyenoord teammate Ferne Snoyl will consider making the move from Feyenoord permanent in the summer.

The 20-year-old Dutchman has impressed since joining the Dons, having been unable to hold down a regular place in the Feyenoord first team.

Snoyl spoke to the Evening Express last week. He said: "There is a strong possibility that I could stay at Aberdeen after the summer. I am enjoying my football here and Aberdeen is a good club."

Snoyl says he will concentrate on playing until the end of the season before discussing his future with Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood.

Calderwood has already spoken of his desire to keep Snoyl at Pittodrie beyond the end of the season but fears his displays for the Dons could alert other clubs.

Snoyl added: "I will also talk with my agent and see what my options are in the summer."
