Kevin McNaughton is out of Tuesday's home game with Dundee United and Saturday's trip to Rugby Park, and may face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The versatile Scotland international was substituted early in the second half of Saturday's defeat to Hibernian and it has been revealed that he has suffered ankle ligament damage.

Ironically, Kevin was having perhaps his best game of the season after starting in midfield as 'tinker man' Jimmy Calderwood tried out yet another formation.

Meanwhile, Calderwood refused to condemn Zander Diamond after the defender's error consigned the Dons to defeat at the hands of Hibs. Diamond's mistake handed Derek Riordan a simple task in converting and extended the side's winless home run.

Calderwood said: "Zander is very distraught and when you look at the goals we have conceded this season, about eight or nine of them have come as a result of individual errors. "But we are all in this together and we will try to get out of this phase that we are stuck in just now."
