Lawrie, who played an understated but heroic role in the trophy returning to Europe from Medinah in 2012, is desperate to be part of the team for this year's renewal at Gleneagles in September.
However, Aberdeen's participation in the Scottish League Cup final on March 16 - the weekend he is due to play in the Trophee Hassan at Agadir, Morocco - is giving the 1999 Open champion a major headache.
Lawrie, a season-ticket holder at Pittodrie, is keen to be part of Paul McGinley's side this autumn but admits the lure of his club's first national final in 14 years, against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, is proving too strong to resist.
"I am not sure what I am going to do about Morocco, it is a tough one to work out," he said.
"I know golf is my job and I also want to collect Ryder Cup points but there happens to be a certain cup final that weekend, something we have not been to for a wee while.
"I have five weeks off now so if I don't play Morocco I'll be at home for eight weeks or so and I might get a bit of grief if I don't go there. But I want to go to the cup final... so we'll see."
