NEW Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee believes the SPL fixture computer has handed him the perfect chance to show Dons' fans what the club is capable of under his management.

The Reds face Celtic at Pittodrie on August 15th, and McGhee is desperate to get off to a flying start to put a marker down to the rest of the SPL.

McGhee said: "I think it's absolutely brilliant start. A perfect start for us.

"Celtic at home is a dream fixture and an opportunity for us to make a statement of intent for the season ahead.

"What a chance this is to hit the ground running and I'm sure the Aberdeen punters will come out for this one.

"It's two new managers facing each other in their first SPL game, we both will have played in Europe before that, and that makes the game even more special."

McGhee starts his new job with the Dons on July 1st, and will face two Europa League qualifying ties before the SPL season starts.
