McInnes believes his team's rediscovered intensity, obvious in the second half against Ross County, was the key to the 2-0 win over Dundee.

Goals from Niall McGinn and Adam Rooney sealed a 2-0 victory in difficult conditions on a day that saw Storm Desmond wreak havoc with the Scottish fixture calendar.

McInnes said: "It was tough conditions for both sides, a very gruelling surface. But I felt we really imposed ourselves on the game and played very aggressively.

“That level of intensity and pace in our game has been missing. We got it back in the second half against Ross County and carried it on today.

"Our start was vitally important, we really imposed ourselves, we were aggressive and played at a real tempo.

"They have good players and we did not allow them to settle and we earned our reward for that.

"The conditions were going to have a big impact on the game but we knew if we did a lot of things right then we would have opportunities to show our quality.
