DONS youngster Mitchel Megginson has signed a two-year extension to his contract.

The promising forward made his debut for the Reds against Sigma Olomouc in the Europa League in August 2009.

In April this year, he joined Scottish Second Division club Arbroath on loan, making his mark by scoring three goals in five games.

He was making headway in the Dons first team this season before he was unfortunately injured by Highland brute Ross Tokeley last month.

Official Aberdeen website RedWeb said: "The signing marks another important milestone for AFC Youth Academy as the Club continues to reap the rewards of the hard work being done to nurture home grown talent.

"Everyone at Pittodrie wishes Mitchel a bright future."
