ABERDEEN legend and Director of Football Willie Miller has hit out at the press after Saturday's false claims that Jimmy Calderwood would be sacked today.

And the club is set to demand a public apology from the media outlets wo broadcasted the story.

Pittodrie officials are thought to be furious at the claim made on both Sky Sports News and TalkSport on Saturday morning that Calderwood would be sacked within 48 hours.

And an angry but moustacheless Miller, ironically speaking in a local newspaper with little journalistic integrity, slammed the media for failing the check the truth of the story, particularly on the morning of a vital fixture.

Miller raged: "Everyone at the club is angered by the comments made about Jimmy's future. They are totally without foundation.

"What angers me most is the media groups responsible made no effort to check if their story was correct.

"It is irresponsible journalism because if they had given us the courtesy of a simple telephone call we could have saved them a lot of embarrassment."
