Nichol-back?

ABERDEEN midfield dynamo Barry Nicholson has been offered an improved contract at the club.

Nicholson, one of the four 'contract rebels', has seen the amazing turnaround only three days after the club announced he, Michael Hart and Chris Clark had rejected final offers on Traitors' Tuesday.

Hart and Clark are sorting out personal terms with Plymouth Argyle after the Dons accepted a total of almost £400,000 for the pair.

However Nicholson has always claimed he hasn't spoken to any other clubs, and that is desperate to stay with the Dons.

On Tuesday, he said: "When talks started it was all about staying with Aberdeen.

"It would have been nice to work things out. I have enjoyed my time, with last season ending on a high and playing in Europe this season."

Meanwhile, Lee Miller is another Dons player mulling over an improved contract.

The Reds' top scorer, with eight goals this term, is seen as the top priority now that Zander Diamond has re-signed and the rest of the week's events have come to a close.

Dons legend and Director of Football Willie Miller said: "We haven't really been in a position to speak to Lee. He is at the top end of our wage spectrum here. We have always told him he is a valuable member of the squad and kept him informed of things."

"He is a young player whose past has been chequered. He has done well and then taken a step back in the past, but he is doing well for us at present."

Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood rejected a £110,000 bid from Blackpool for Miller this week, and revealed that he has also opened negotiations with bullish defender Richie Byrne.

He said: "Blackpool manager Simon Grayson phoned me to say he was interested in Lee and made an offer which was derisory to say the least. It was thrown out and he gave no indication of coming back to me.

"I also talked to Richie and said we will be able to talk more on Monday."
