Tango Attacks 'Websites'

FORMER Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood has launched a broadside at Dons fans who use Aberdeen-Mad and other supporters' websites.

Calderwood left Aberdeen in May last year on the day he led the club into Europe for the second time, but a section of the support failed to fully take to him.

And in a bizarre statement in the build-up to today's return to Pittodrie with Kilmarnock, he has narrowed down this section to AFC fans' "websites".

He said of the Dons fans: "I've had a lot of letters and texts. They have been absolutely brilliant, but they always were.

"Maybe these websites were different but privately they were always brilliant."

Calderwood's strange belief that all Dons fans supported him apart from those who run and frequent online supporters' forums shows not only an incredible lack of awareness and a weird, near-Luddite fear of technology, but is simply untrue.

Aberdeen-Mad held a poll last week asking its regulars twhat reception they will give Calderwood, and a mere 7.4% said they will boo the former Dons boss.

This, and a general consensus on the Stand Free messageboard that Calderwood did a good job at Pittodrie, although he had to leave when he did, only serves to emphasise how unjustified Calderwood's comments were.
