Training With The Enemy? Noel Chance!

A player that could be involved in defeating Aberdeen tomorrow could well be training at Pittodrie next week despite being on another team's books.

This crazy situation was thrown up by Jimmy Calderwood's admission that Noel Whelan may train with Aberdeen despite having signed a short-term contract with the Dons' opponents tomorrow, Livingston.

The Englishman, who was training with the Dons last week to maintain his fitness, has joined the tinpot Almondvale club until the end of the season but Calderwood's belief that Whelan is good for morale may end up confusing and alienating Dons fans.

Calderwood told the Evening Express: "I've told Noel that if he wants to come in next week and his manager lets him he's more than welcome.

"I would have no problem with that if Livingston gave him permission to work with us before linking up with them later in the week. But he won't be coming in next week if he scores the winning goal against us tomorrow!

"However, in normal circumstances he would be allowed to train with us. The offer will always be there for him."

This sort of thing may well be acceptable in the lower leagues, but the Dons fans may see things differently. Vote in the Aberdeen-Mad poll to give your views on the situation.
