Well Match Postponed

ABERDEEN'S second game in less than 48 hours has been cancelled because of the weather.

A pitch inspection at 8 o'clock this morning deemed the Fir park pitch unplayable after heavy overnight rain in Lanarkshire.

A spokesman for Aberdeen FC said: "Following an early morning pitch inspection today's Motherwell v Aberdeen match has been postponed.

"Overnight weather conditions have made the pitch unplayable."

Ironically, Aberdeen wished to switch the game because of the Scottish Cup replay on Thursday but Motherwell refused and the SPL chose not to make a decision on the matter.

Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood had blasted the SPL as "amateurs" after their typically cowardly and hesitant stance concerning the controversy.

Presumably now Motherwell will be suing Mother Nature for their well-publicised loss of £30,000 by not playing the fixture today.
