Dons striker Stevie Crawford is fit enough to return to the squad for Saturday's big game at parkhead against league leaders Celtic. This news will be a relief to Dons fans with top scorer Jamie Smith out for at least four weeks.

Furthermore, as reported by Aberdeen-Mad on Wednesday, Zander Diamond will be fit for the Dons' big match with Celtic on Saturday after a head knock received while captaining Scotland U21s on Tuesday night.

However Andrew Considine remains sidelined despite resuming training this week.

With several players involved in the international set up this week Jimmy Calderwood had to wait until everyone returned today before he could finalise plans for the weekend.

He told RedWeb: "All the lads that were away on international duty came back ok. Zander got a couple of stitches but he is fit for selection.

"Considine will play for the reserves against Celtic on Tuesday as due to the weather he has not been able to build up a bit of fitness ahead of this Saturday's game.

"Esson, Byrne, Hart and Smith are all out however we do have Crawford coming back, which is great for us as he has a lot of experience."

Looking forward to the game itself, Jimmy said: "Last season we did well down at Celtic but we have not done so well this season.

"We will need to concentrate for the whole game if we want to continue our unbeaten run in the league this year. We are going into this game full of confidence and on the back of a good run.

"Celtic are a good team and Strachan has them playing some nice football but we have some quality players at Aberdeen who I am confident can match Celtic for 90 minutes."
