Four Face Fitness Test

DONS boss Jimmy Calderwood will assess the fitness of four players ahead of the crucial Dunfermline game on Saturday.

Jamie Langfield, Barry Nicholson, Jamie Smith and Zander Diamond have all picked up knocks in the past week, and the Pittodrie medical staff will assess their fitness this morning.

Nicholson picked up a strain in the victory over St Mirren and had to be substituted early in the second half, while Diamond limped out of the reserve team's 5-2 win over Inverness on Tuesday.

Smith is just back from serious injury and while Calderwood hopes that all four players will be fit, he is not certain about Smith.

He told RedWeb: "Barry Nicholson and Jamie Langfield have strains but they should be ok for Saturday.

"Both players and Jamie Smith were struggling a bit before the game and that is why Barry had to be substituted but the others were fine."

If all four recover, the Dons will have only long-term injury victim Richie Byrne sidelined as Karim Touzani is now fully fit and should line up on Saturday.

Aberdeen face a difficult run of fixtures in December so it is vital that the Dons pick up three points at East End Park to keep up the momentum in their charge for a European place.
