Home & Away with the Neighbours

Russell Anderson and Scott Severin come back from Scotland's dreadful two games with reputations thoroughly intact - Russ being the only player to come out of both games with great credit (man of the match on Saturday, desperately needed last night), and Sev missed the humiliation of involvement. It must have been slightly humiliating for Scottie to sit on the bench seeing Ferguson, Holt and Cameron behaving like amateurs, but there can surely now be no doubt that Severin's time will come.

Despite Russell missing last night's "game" due to an ankle twinge, he should be fit for Saturday's away home game versus Inverness Caley Thistle. Chris Clark is close to full fitness after two months out, and Saturday's game might see his first-team return. Fernando Pasquinelli played in the Dons' reserve game against Kilmarnock this week, and may be given a starting place also.

But biggest injury news is that striker Noel Whelan seems to have recovered as mysteriously as he 'broke down', and if he passes fitness tests today and tomorrow, he may find himself on the bench against ICT.

After a series of disappointing results following on from Aberdeen's great start to the season, it is encouraging to see the injury list dwindling, and with big Zander back in a month we will (touch wood) hopefully remain without another injury crisis for the rest of the season.

Latest news: Aberdeen have announced today that cash turnstiles will now be in operation for the North of Scotland derby, a slightly embarrassing turn-around from the initial announcement of an all-ticket game. Entry is £20, with £15 concessions.
