Arild Stavrum
Stavrum - wanted Pittodrie return
As reported yesterday Aberdeen tried to bring Norwegian striker Arild Stavrum back to Pittodrie.
It would seem that after seeing a move to German 2nd Division side FC Mainz fall through - the players agent - a man many believe to be responsible for engineering Arild's controversial exit from Pittodrie over a year ago - contacted AFC to see if they would be interested in taking the player back.

While Arild was willing to take a substantial cut in wages from what he was on in Turkey - it proved to still be too much for the Dons meagre budget.

The return of Stavrum who finished top scorer in both seasons with the Dons - despite not arriving until November in his fist season and both missing a large chunk and playing for a spell with a back injury in his second - is a major blow - as the Dons still dont really have someone who is an out and out goalscorer.
