Around 2,000 Aberdeen fans are set to invade Berlin in the next 48 hours in the biggest Red Army invasion of the German capital since the Russians took control of East Berlin in 1945.

Aberdeen will be backed by a large and noisy travelling support as they take on Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin for a spot in the 2nd round of the UEFA Cup.

The tie is finely poised after a 0-0 draw in the 1st leg.

Some fans left yesterday, some more today, with the bulk of the Dons support - myself included - heading out tomorow.

Pictures from Berlin will appear on the Aberdeen mad site later on in the week.
