FORMER Aberdeen midfielder David Rowson today revealed that he regrets leaving the Dons. Aberdonian Rowson, left the Dons in June 2001, after a bust up between his agent Gordon Smith, and then Dons chief executive Dave Cormack - over the players wage demands.

Rowson eventually signed for Stoke City, a move which doubled his wages, but turned sour when he failed to establish himself in the first team.

The midfielder told the Evening Express "I would never say never to going back to Aberdeen."
"They are the club I support and it always meant alot when I played for them."

"I had eight very happy years at Pittodrie and also enjoyed a great relationship with Ebbe Skovdahl. "I never had any problems on the football side. It was the chief executive I just couldn't see eye to eye with.

"Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I know my career might have worked out differently if I had stayed with the Dons.
"But I decided the time was right to take a gamble and see if I could do well in English football.
"My contract with Stoke expires in the summer, so I have no idea what lies ahead.
"At the moment, I'm trying to persuade them to offer me another deal.
"We should have a new manager in place soon and that will mean a fresh start for everyone.
"But if Stoke decide they don't want me then I will have to consider any offers that come my way."

He also advised the Dons stars who are out of contract at the end of this season to think twice about heading south.

"It is very hard to get yourself established in English football,"
"The really big names who come down from Rangers and Celtic don't have a problem, but it's tougher if you have come down from one of the provincial clubs and aren't that well known outside Scotland."

"The money that was on offer a couple of years ago also isn't there anymore."
