Sasa Ilic has agreed to join Aberdeen on a month-long contract. The 32-year-old goalkeeper, will provide cover for Ryan Esson with David Preece out for at least a month injured. The Melbourne-born keeper, who had spells at Charlton and Barnsley, and has also appeared for West Ham, Sheffield United, Portsmouth and Blackpool, was most recently at Bradford. Ilic said: "I am looking forward to it. Aberdeen are really flying at the moment."

The fansfc.com Charlton profile of Sasa, from a wee while back, makes interesting reading:

You either love or hate Sasa. You think he is the man for the job or the guy who gives you kittens. You either like Deano [Keily] or Sasa.

Sasa was our hero in the second half of the 97/98 promotion winning season, with a great run of clean sheets and of course that heroic penalty save in the play off final at Wembley.

But he did not take to the Premiership well and he has rarely played since then, even going out for a dreadful loan period with West Ham.

However, he came in for the injured Deano towards the end of last season and despite a few soft goals going in, he did us proud and showed that no matter what people say, Sasa is still the best catcher of a ball in the club.

Sounds like our type of player.
