We Feared Lovell

ABERDEEN boss Jimmy Calderwood says he changed the team's successful formation because of the threat of just one of bottom-of-the-table Falkirk's players - ex-Don Steve Lovell.

Calderwood switched from the 4-4-2 formation - that had seen the Dons win seven games in the last nine - to the continually unsuccessful 5-3-2 yesterday, and the team subsequently lost 1-0.

The win was Falkirk's first against Aberdeen in any competition for almost fifteen years.

Calderwood said: "We had to change it with Zander and Andy both out. I did not think we could play with four at the back, two centre halfs because of Steve's pace. We chose to play with a three.

"For the goal Severin was caught out of position for the first time after going up for a corner. It was a great finish from the lad.

"Too many players who have done brilliantly for us just weren't at that level. Our passing was poor and Falkirk deserved to win it, on their second half performance."
