Let's not get carried away. Sunday’s was a victory against a team that we beat 4-2 at Pittodrie the last time we won a game, and scored an identical two goals against the last time we visited their ground - and both under Mark McGhee.

But the victory over Hibs was achieved with the same players that have looked abject in recent months, and they appeared more organised, more disciplined and more committed. And that's a start.

And it is immediately welcome to have a manager in Craig Brown who is relentlessly positive without it sounding insincere or becoming grating. It’s easy to see why the players seemed motivated.

We may not challenge for the Euro slots this term, but at least with performances like Boxing Day's then opportunity Knox for us to get out of the Brown stuff.
