ABERDEEN

I suppose the expected Dons response to events at Fir Park on Saturday would be for me to demand the immediate introduction of Goal Line technology and bemoan a bad decision costing us a UEFA slot and the lost revenue.

But the truth is it was our dreadful league form, like picking up 1 point on the road to our fellow Top 6 Clubs all season, that cost us the UEFA spot rather than one bad decision that means we won't be abusing our livers in foreign climes come the autumn.

As for the bad line call, well part of what makes football the beautiful game is it's imperfections, that games and seasons can swing on moments of outrageous fortune and screaming injustice, part of being a football fan is accepting that's sometimes you'll benefit and some times you'll suffer.

Unless of course the referee is Michael 'Mockery' McCurry, in which case it'll be screaming injustice laid upon screaming injustice.

It's rare that we find common ground with the Arabs but we've a long history of suffering at the hands of Mockery's 'unique' interpretation of the rules, so good luck to United with their complaint but as we found out when we complained about McCurry 8 years ago after he declined to award a penalty and dismiss Barry Ferguson for a blatant professional foul on the bizarre grounds that he was 'the Captain of Scotland'….it'll just be swept under the SFA carpet.

In fact it would be no real surprise to see him take charge of the game at Pittodrie next Thursday.
